Purpose

To celebrate Lord Krishna's birth with Bengali Vaishnavite fervor.

How Is It Celebrated?

At midnight - Krishna's birth hour - Dhakeshwari Temple becomes the epicenter. Dahi Handi human pyramids smash clay pots, Raslila dances feature children as gopis swirling in silk, and Jhulan Yatra displays gold-cradled Krishna idols swinging.

Unique traditions include feeding 108 dishes to stone "Govardhan Shila," floating "palki" processions on Buriganga River, and distributing "makhan mishri" (butter sweets).

Modern twists include projection mapping of Krishna Leela, #KrishnaBlue Instagram challenges, and eco-friendly clay idol workshops.
